A Cmaj 7 to g works well on the verse in place of C. Hit the chord twice with down strums ie cmaj7 cmaj. 7 then G. Thanks for the chart, helpful .

Nice simplified adaptation - thanks for the contribution. Doesn't have as much of that layered Steely Dan sound, but since most of their music is virtually impossible to play for the 'funning-around' guitarist (like me) - this is a great place to start without the frustration. Ironically, it was listening to Steely Dan and Dire Straits that prodded me into picking up the guitar again after about 20 years. That said, guitar talents like Walter Becker, Denny Dias, Larry Carleton, Skunk Baxter from SD tunes, and, of course, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits sets an incredibly high bar!
