Even though this song has been posted about 6 times already, I'm
posting my version because it's considerably different from those
which have appeared. I'm pretty sure the notes are close
to accurate, but this version requires an odd tuning.
FIRST: Tune the high E string (i.e. thinnest string) down to a D.
I did this because I think I can hear the highest note of the first
chord played on two different strings (based on the tone quality).
You don't need to do this, as long as you don't try to play this string.
NEXT: Put a capo on the first fret.
Any feedback on how easy/hard you think this is to play, whether you
think this is a reasonable tuning, etc, is welcome.

without my guitar so I may have messed up the chorus some, but I
think it's correct.

this song is infact normal tunning with the cappo on the third fret.

These are correct and you will go a long way using this picking pattern.

Amen, brother! I don’t remember where I learned this song 20+ years ago but I learned it the way you have it tabbed out here and I think it sounds spot on. Totally agree that you can hear the highest note of the first shape played on two different strings, which I think gives it a real unique sound that isn’t replicated in any of the other tabs I’ve seen on here. Unfortunately, in all the videos of Smashing Pumpkins playing this live, they play it the way Fleetwood Mac played it which is obviously different. So how can anyone declare that this song is played differently? UG should have a rule that you have to post a link to a video with any “corrections.”🙂
