[Verse 1]
  D G
I am a little beggarman and begging I have been
       D C
For three score or more in this little isle of green
      D G
I'm known from the Liffey down to Segue
          D
And I'm known by the name of old Johnny Dhu
   Am G
Of all the trade's that's going, sure begging is the best
      D C
For when a man is tired, he can sit down and rest
        D G
He can beg for his dinner, he has nothing else to do
      D
Only cut around the corner with his old rig-a-doo

D A

[Verse 2]
    D G
I slept in the barn, down at Caurabawn
   D C
A wet night came on and I slept 'till the dawn
      D G
With holes in the roof and the rain coming through
         D
And the rats and the cats, they were playing peek-a-boo
       Am G
When who did I waken but the woman of the house
          D C
With her white spotty apron and her calico blouse
  D G
She began to frighten and I said "boo
   D
Aarah, don't be afraid mam it's only Johnny Dhu"

D A

[Verse 3]
   D G
I met a little flaxy-haired girl one day
       D C
"Good morning little flaxy-haired girl" I did say
       D G
"Good morning little beggarman, a how do you do
           D
With your rags and you tags and you old rig-a-doo"
      Am G
I'll buy a pair of leggings, a collar and a tie
       D C
And a nice young lady I'll fetch by and by
      D G
I'll buy a pair of goggles and I'll colour them blue
       D
And an old fashioned lady I will make her too

[Verse 4]
D G
Over the road with my pack on my back
D C
Over the fields with my great heavy sack
      D G
With holes in my shoes and my toes peeping through
          D
Singing skinny-me-rink a doodle o and old Johnny Dhu
   Am G
I must be going to bed for it's getting late at night
     D C
The fire's all raked and out goes the light
    D G
So now you've heard the story of my old rig-a-doo
           D
It's good-bye and God be with you says old Johnny Dhu

Hey! Great tab! I know the version by the High Kings. Compared to that, this is pretty accurate, but there is some repeating of the instrumental at the end there. I have not yet figured out exactly what that is yet. :0)
