The Black Keys - Bullet In The Brain
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: muffin97
UPDATE: I've recently listened to the studio version of the song and it seems like
they pitched the song down for 2 half steps for the live version (maybe because it's
difficult for Auerbach to reach the high notes with his falsetto). So this tab is just
the live version. If you want to play the studio version, just go up 2 half steps (yeah,
I know it's a bit lazy of me). Have fun!
The Black Keys performed this new song off of Turn Blue for the first time at their gig for BBC Radio 1
with Zane Lowe (this is where I transcribed it from). It is a pretty cool and psychedelic track and very easy
to play:
Tuning: Standard
Intro:
Dan does some random finger-picking, which I don´t wanna figure out because I´m quite
sure this part will be a bit different on the album version. Also, Dan is known to change
finger-picking parts every time he plays one (see Little Black Submarines, he does a different
kind of picking almost every time). The chords are correct, though.
6x:
e|--5-------------------------------3-----------------1----|
B|--6-------------------------------3-----------------1----|
G|--7-------------------------------4-----------------2----|
D|--7-------------------------------5-----------------3----|
A|--5-------------------------------5-----------------3----|
E|---------------------------------------------------------|
Then the other instruments join the guitar and Dan brings in some fuzz. The chords are
the same, until the main keyboard theme comes in. From then on, Dan plays this:
Chorus/Intro 2:
4x:
e|--10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10--x--x--x-|
B|--10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-|

D|--12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-10-10-10-|

E|--10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-------------------------------------------------|
I was able to figure out the keyboard part, too (2x):
e|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|----------------------br-------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--7----/10----/12----/12-----12----------7----/10----/12----\3----\5-----------------|
A|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Verse:
Richard "Dick" Swift plays a funky bass line, that you can play like this on guitar (it
remains the same throughout the whole verse, just repeat):
e|-----------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------|
G|-----------------------------------------|
D|-----------------------------------------|
A|----5--3---------------------------------|
E|--3---------5--5--3--3----1----3----1----|
The rest of the song is just a repeating of the parts.

I'm afraid your logic about the finger picking parts, although partially correct, is a little shallow. Dan does variate playing a lot, but he doesn't change that much when he does it. In any case, it still would be nice to know what he plays live so it's easier to see how it changes in the studio version.
Also, the F maj chord in the chorus is wrong. If you watch the video closely you'll see Dan doesn't shift his hand down at all. He plays the F maj like this:
e|--x---|
B|--10--|
G|--10--|
D|--10--|
A|--x---|
E|--x---|
Again, a link to the video is always helpful

You're right, thank you for the correction, I just changed the chorus. I'd like to keep the finger-picking comment, though, because I like to think that most players variate their way of finger-picking chords.

i think there's something a litlle off with your base line, the 3's on the A string sound wrong to me, when you play the following it sounds better
e|-----------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------------|
G|-----------------------------------------------|
D|-----------------------------------------------|
A|----5------------------------------------------|
E|--3----5----5-5-5----3--3--3----1----3----1----|
otherwise, awesome tab, was looking for this
