This is my single-acoustic guitar interpretation of Jonathan Morali’s “The Golden Hour” (aka the main menu
theme) from the Life is Strange Original Soundtrack as seen in the YouTube link above. I generally play by
ear, so I don't rely on/make tabs for the most part. However, a few people requested tabs and this piece
means a lot to me. This is my first attempt at tabs, so please bear with me as I try to break it out the
best and simplest way I can...
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TABS BELOW ARE RELATIVE TO STANDARD EADGBe TUNING!
Play the same pattern with a capo at the 5th fret to match the pitch of the original piece.
Key:
C major (F major with capo on 5th fret)
[Base chord shapes:]
e|----0----0----0----1----|
B|----1----0----1----1----|
G|----0----2----2----2----|
D|----2----0----2----3----|
A|----3----x----0----3----|
E|---------3---------1----|
C G Am F
These are the basic chord shapes that I believe will provide the easiest starting point for the tabs below:
C: ring finger on the A string, middle finger on the D string, and index finger on the B string.
G: middle finger on the E string and index finger on the G string.
Am: middle finger on the D string, ring finger on the G string, and index finger on the B string.
F: index finger in bar chord shape, ring finger on the A string, pinky on the D string, and middle finger on
the G string.
Structure, dynamics, and picking:
Star with the intro, and main elements that repeat are the verse and chorus. You may repeat those as many
times as you’d like. The basic picking structure begins with a main chord followed by repeated alternating
rhythm and treble notes. The main chords below are generally the first notes of each measure and are indicated
by a chord letter. In terms of dynamics, I suggest playing the main chord slightly louder than the
following alternating notes which should sound as if they "linger".
My picking suggestion for the main chord is to simultaneously "claw" the rhythm note with your thumb and
pluck the treble note with your index/middle fingers. Following the main chord, alternate between thumb and
middle/fingers for the remaining rhythm and treble notes within each measure, respectively.
The finger picking style may be a bit tricky at first, but will become easier once you keep practicing.
START SLOW and the pattern will become more apparent over time and it will be easier to differentiate the
notes. Ultimately however, feel free to use whatever technique works best for you!

This is your first attempt to tab something? Holy hell, this tab is awesome, sounds perfect and is detailed and easy to read. Thanks so much man. This game hella changed my life... Even playing more guitar again. (Just discovered the whole LiS world last winter)

Love your tab. I'll just give 5 stars cause I'm an amateur.
I wish other tabs will give the base chord like you did. It will make life easier for me.
