My first attempt at writing out some chords! The song is easiest if thought of in 6/8
time. Just think of usually playing the chords on counts 1,2,3,4, and for the muted
strumming to be on counts 5 and 6. Note, the chords don't line up over the proper words,
something is screwing up with the font, so just figure out the harmonic rhythm.
Intro: D D D D

There are tiers, as in levels, to reality

On the industrial corner of North 17th Street and Wythe

Two black public high school kids watch a nordic model get photographed
Bm A G A D D
To them, she is lunar, impossible, alien life.

So as a comet might relate to a traffic-stop taxi cab

Or a Bahamas vacation to a stint in Guantanamo Bay
A G D Bm
So as access and privilege relate to their absolute opposites
Bm A G A D D
It's the way that these kids and this woman will always relate

And it's nobody's fault. Yeah no one's to blame.
A Em
We all work through the dark. We all carry the weight.
Bm D F#m Bm
Slender shoulders and blindfolds spinning in cycles
Bm A G A D D D D
Now, now, now: navigate!

There are tiers, as in layers, to an experience.
G G D D
Through each lens and metric the image warps every day.
A G D Bm
I'm either successful, independent, and largely uncompromised
Bm A G A D D
Or a non-starter, never-was, has-been since 2008.
G D
And it's nobody's fault. Yeah no one's to blame.
Em A
We all work through the dark. We all carry the weight.
Bm D F#m Bm
Slender shoulders and blindfolds spinning in cycles
Bm A G A G
Now, now, now: navigate!

D D D D
There are tears, as in water-works, and they're threatening
G G D D
To spoil the negotiated sweetness of my afternoon
A G D Bm
I can't answer anything honestly without an asterisk
Bm A G A D D
Air-quotes and doublespeak litter the fountain of youth.
G D
And if it's nobody's fault, then I'm not to blame
Em A
I just work in the dark, I just carry the weight.
Bm D F#m Bm
Slender shoulders and blindfolds stranded in cycles
Bm A G A D D D D
Now, now, now: navigate!
End on a D and that's it!

After rechecking it, play a G major when singing "shoulders" in the chorus instead of a B minor.

Final note:
Obviously when playing the Em to the A, that is the order, unlike the first time it appears, however all subsequent times are correct. Also, if you find the Bm and F#m too hard, an easy way to cheat is:
Bm: 4th fret on D and G strings and 3rd fret on B string. Mute other strings.
F#m: 2nd fret E string, 4th fret A and D strings. Mute others. This makes it an F#5, but it still sounds pretty good!
