Longer version with (mostly correct) lyrics:

D F G D

                              F
Once upon a time there was a girl
         G D
around smiles and silver shoes
                                      F
She thought she was in this dreadful time
             G D
and didn't know what to do, she said
                         F
there ain't gonna be no guarantee
   G D
I know it from the heart
                                       F
but an outcast would get there in the end
              G D
without the need to act and pretend, cause you know

C
that I wanna hold you
G
yeah unfold you
             D
you looking good girl
C
and I don't need to see you
G
but I wanna feel you
         D
cause I need you girl

                                   F
And upon another time there was a boy
          G D
falling headfirst towards the floor
                                       F
and no, my friends, it wasn't captain Morgan this time
         G D
but the circus inside that broken door, he thought
                          F
This happy city is soon falling apart
   G D
I know it from the heart
                           F
Be quiet and drive me far away
            G D
because it ain't the place to stay, yeah you know

C
that I wanna hold you
G
yeah unfold you
             D
you looking good girl
C
and I don't need to see you
G
but I wanna feel you
         D
cause I need you girl

        G D
B..But t..to my knees I pray
       G D
that you'll be there for me
        G A
B..But t..to my knees I pray for you
                     D
but it won't be the time

  F G D

D F G D

hold up
                     F
Is that a feeling a change
          G D
or just another soaked in whiskey, coke and beer
                                              F
Keep your head up high you shouldn't have no fear
         G D
but the time keeps whispering in my ear
                     F
I want my mother to see me walking down that aile
        G D
please wait for me I'll be there in a while
                                   F
and everything will work out just fine you'll see
               G D
but until then, where's my bottle of J&B, yeah you know

C
that I wanna hold you
G
yeah unfold you
             D
you looking good girl
C
and I don't need to see you
G
but I wanna feel you
         D
cause I need you girl

        G D
B..But t..to my knees I pray
       G D
that you'll be there for me
        G A
B..But t..to my knees I pray for you
                     D
but it won't be the time

In the 'but to my knees' bit it sounds like he sings 'but until my knees', but that makes no sense
so I just left it as it is. There's also a little break in two places, but I don't know exactly what
he plays there so i just left it out, works well enough without it. Also, I don't think he plays just
standard chords in the chorus, but compared to all other versions of this song out there this is at
least the right base chords.
