John Gorka - Let Them In

CAPO: 2nd Fret

INTRO: C G

         C
Let them in, Peter
         G
They are very tired
          Am G Am
Give them couches where the angels sleep
                F
And light those fires

         C
Let them wake whole again
   G Am
To brand new dawns
               G
Fired with the sun
       F
Not wartime's bloody guns

          C
May their peace be deep
         G
Remember where the broken bodies lie
    Am G F
God knows how young they were

To have to die
    Am G C
God knows how young they were

To have to die

INTERLUDE: G Am G F C G Am G F

             C
So give them things they like
         G
Let them make some noise
     Am G
Give dance hall bands, not golden harps
   F
To these our boys

             C
And let them love, Peter
         G
'Cause they've had no time
                 Am G
They should have trees and bird songs
    F
And hills to climb

             C
The taste of summer
     G
In a ripened pear
    Am G F
And girls sweet as meadow wind

With flowing hair

          C
Tell them how they are missed
    G
And say, not to fear
           Am G F G
It's gonna be alright
             C
With us down here

INTERLUDE: G Am G F C G Am F C G Am G F

         C
Let them in, Peter

Thank you! As a now retired soldier and Army civilian, I've now welcomed this John Gorka song (among several of his) into my repertoire. Having caught his performance of it ... after pulling myself up off the floor ... wiping the tears, I just had to come find it on UG.
