Glen Hansard - "Say It To Me Now"
Standard Tuning: E, A, D, G, B, e
Tabbed by: Erik Preston

I know Glen plays this song in Open E tuning, but I don't feel like playing this song in
tuning that will break my strings. So I tweaked all the parts to be played in standard.
didn't tab the rhythm, but it's easy enough to figure out.

Intro/Verse:
E|--------0--------0--------0--------0--|
B|--------0--------0--------0--------0--|
G|--------4--------4--------1--------1--|
D|--------6--------6--------2--------2--|
A|-----7--7-----5--5-----4--4-----2--2--|
E|-----0--0-----0--0-----0--0-----0--0--|

Bridge (0:52 - "And I didn't understand..."):
E|-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0--|
B|-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0--|
G|-----2-----4-----6-----4-----2-----8--|
D|-----4-----6-----7-----6-----4-----9--|
A|-----x-----x-----x-----x-----x-----9--|
E|-----2-----4-----5-----4-----2-----7--|

Chorus (1:11 - "Cause this is what you've waited for..."):
e|-----0------------0---------0-------------0-------0--|
B|-----0------------0---------0-------------0-------0--|
G|-----4------------5---------6-------------6-------8--|
D|-----6------------6---------6-------------7-------9--|
A|-----7------------7---------7-------------7-------9--|
E|-----0------------0---------0-------------5-------7--|

(1:49 - "So if you have something to say..."):
e|-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0--|
B|-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0--|
G|-----4-----8-----6-----4-----6-----8-----6-----8--|
D|-----6-----9-----7-----9-----7-----9-----7-----9--|
A|-----7-----9-----7-----9-----7-----9-----7-----9--|
E|-----0-----7-----5-----7-----5-----7-----5-----7--|

Outro (2:14):
e|-----0----------0----------0---------0--------0-----------0--|
B|-----0----------0----------0---------0--------0-----------0--|
G|-----11-/-13----13-/-11----11-/-9----9-/-8----8-/-9-------1--|
D|-----x----------x----------x---------x--------x-----------2--|
A|-----9--/-11----11-/-9-----9--/-7----7-/-6----6-/-7----------|
E|-----0----------0----------0---------0--------0-------0------|

Scratching at the surface now
And I'm trying hard to work it out
And so much has gone misunderstood
This mystery only leads to doubt

And I didn't understand
When you reached down to take my hand
And if you have something to say
You'd better say it now

Cause this is what you've waited for
A chance to even up the score
And as these shadows fall
on me now, I will somehow, yeah

Cause I'm picking up a message Lord
And I'm closer I've ever been before
So if you have something to say
Say it to me now
Just say it to me now
Ohhh... Oh... Oh

You've got this so wrong man, sorry to tell ya. First of all, the song is played in Open E, so playing it in standard will never sound like it. Go to this video on YouTube and you'll see exactly 100% how Glen plays it in Once explained. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJv_1nDeRL8

Just wanted to point out - watch the way he plays this song in "Once". He uses standard tuning, constantly dampening the G string (or in his case, a broken string): E|-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-------------| B|-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-------------| G|-----9-----8-----9-----9-----2-----4-----5-----8-----11------------| D|-----9-----9-----9-----9-----X-----X-----X-----X-----9-------------| A|-----11----11----11----11----4-----6-----7-----9-----11------------| E|-----0-----0-----10----9-----2-----4-----5-----7-----0-------------| Those are just the chords (no rhythm or anything) but you can get a feel for the finger pattern he uses, and just repeats it.

First off, it's played in Open E tuning, so you'll never get it to sound right in standard. Check out this video on YouTube. It's exactly how Glen plays it in Once and it's explained in detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJv_1nDeRL8
