[Verse 1]
A
Remember when the days were long,
D Dmaj7sus2 D6sus2
And rolled beneath a deep blue sky
Asus2 Amaj Asus2 Amaj
Didn't have a care in the world,
D E
With mommy and daddy standing by
A
When happily ever after fails,
D Dmaj7sus2 D6sus2
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
Asus2 Amaj Asus2 Amaj
The lawyers dwell on small details,
F#m D E Esus
Since daddy had to fly
[Chorus 1]
F#m C#m7 Bm7
Ah, but I know a place where we can go,
F#m D E Esus
Still untouched by man
F#m C#m7 Bm7
We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by,
F#m D E Esus
And the tall grass waves in the wind
A E D
You can lay your head back on the ground,
F#m C#m7 Bm7
Let your hair fall all around me
A E D
Offer up your best defense,
F#m C#m7 Bm7
This is the end,
Bm7m C#m7 D E Amaj
This is the end ... of the innocence
Asus2 Amaj Asus2 Amaj Bm7 F#m E D Dmaj7sus2
[Verse 2]

Oh, beautiful for spacious skies,
D Dmaj7sus2 D6sus2
Now those skies are threatening
Asus2 Amaj Asus2 Amaj
They're beating plowshares into swords,
D E
For this tired old man that we elected king
A
Armchair warriors often fail,
D Dmaj7sus2 D6sus2
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
Asus2 Amaj Asus2 Amaj
The lawyers clean up all details,

Since daddy had to lie
[Chorus 2]

Oh but I know a place where we can go,

And wash away this sin

We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by,
F#m D E Esus
And the tall grass waves in the wind
A E D
Just lay your head back on the ground,
F#m C#m7 Bm7
And let your hair spill all around me
A E D
Offer up your best defense,

This is the end,

Somewhere back there in the dust,

That same small town in each of us

This is such an awesome piece of work. And I can easily see how this kind of detail took hours of time. It's right up there at the pinnacle versions with those of Maguri and DiddyD's work. Congratulations on this magic. And please, everyone, check out the authors' special chord versions for best chords. For those new to UG, when the program loads chords for the chords in a version, it's very good. What makes this version great over good is those specific chords in to notations before the song starts. All you need to do is put your headphones to hear how the authors' version fits like a velvet glove; very tasteful. I also like the #1 chord version of the program for the D5.
