[Intro]

I wake up every morning
I hear your feet on the stairs
             C
Youre in the next apartment
Cmaj7 G
I hear you singing over there

C G F

F
This groove is out of fashion
These beats are 20 years old
          C
I saw you lend a hand to
Cmaj7 G
The ones out standing in the cold

C G F

Strange overtones in the music you are playing
           C
I'll harmonize
      Cmaj7
It is strong and you are tough
      G
But a heart is not enough

C G F

F
Put on your socks and mittens
Its getting colder tonight
           C
A snowball in my kitchen
Cmaj7 G
I watched it melt before my eyes

C G F

F
Your song still needs a chorus
I know you'll figure it out
           C
The rising of the verses
Cmaj7 G
A change of key will let you out

C G F

Strange overtones though they're slightly out of fashion
           C
I'll harmonize
          Cmaj7
I see the music in your face
          G
That your words cannot explain

C G F

F
Strange overtones in the music you are playing
           C
We're not alone
       Cmaj7
It is strong and you are tough
      G
But a heart is not enough

The C#7 is actually a C#maj7. This song also works really well with a capo on the first fret, and then the chords are F C Cmaj7 G, relaative to the capo.

The band Whitney does a great cover of this song. They put the capo on the second fret but the chords here (relative to the capo) work otherwise.
