This acoustic version is pretty simple but sounds really close to the actual
thing. I pretty much got this down from watching people's covers on Youtube that were really good.
A# 577655
G# 466544
C#m 446654
B#? 799877
I'm not sure if its a B, but the finger positions are correct. I play without a
capo because my voice is deeper, but if you're a girl, I'd probably put a capo on
the 2nd fret to better fit the voice.
A# G#
I awake alone
C#m B#
in a woman's room I hardly know.
A# G#
I awake alone
C#m B#
and pretend that I am finally home.
A# G#
The room is littered
C#m B#
with her books and notebooks
A# G#
I imagine what they say, like,
C#m B#
"Shoo fly don't bother me."
A# G# C#m
I can hardly get myself out of the bed
B# A# G# C#m
for fear of never lying in this bed again.
B# A# G# C#m B#
Oh Christ, I'm not that desperate.
A# G# C#m
Oh no, oh God. I am.
A#, G#, C#m, B#(x3)
How'd I end up here to begin with?
I don't know.
Why do I start what I can't finish?
Oh please don't barrage me
with the questions
to all those ugly answers.
My ego's like my stomach,
it keeps shitting what I feed it.
But maybe I don't want to finish anything anymore.
Maybe I can wait in bed 'til she comes home
and whispers,
"You're in my web now,
I've come to wrap you up tight
'til it's time to bite down."
I awake alone
in a woman's room I hardly know.
I awake alone
and pretend that I am finally home.

If you don't like Bar Chords, you can also play the standard chords: F, Em, Am, and G in standard tuning. Either way works well.

Capo 1
(C)Awake (B)Alone (em)In a womans room (G) I hardly know..
W/o capo it's C# B# Fm G#
At the end of the verse I like to play B7 (x21202) for a little extra effect.

I meant in place of the standard B chord on the last run of the verse
