Boots Of Spanish Leather Tab

This version is formatted differently to the other tab and has some other differences in annotation/notes etc. Importantly, it also includes the variations missing from the other tab and includes the ending to the last verse and the outro which the other tab does not.Esta informação foi útil?

Boots of Spanish Leather – Bob Dylan
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tabbed by Robert Saunders
Standard tuning with capo on 1st fret.
Chords:

C/G: 3X2013
Em9: 054030
D7/F#: 20021X
Em: 022000
[Notes]
There is a good tab of this song on UG by Eyolf Østrem which seems to have been taken
from dylanchords.info. This tab is different but I’ve gone with some of the notes from
Eyolf’s tab where I’m unsure. Please post corrections below and I will update the tab.
In live recordings Dylan seems to play Em7/D (X54030) instead of Em9, and C major
(X3201) instead of D7/F#. These chords can be substituted into this tab to add
variation. You can also add variation by adding the 5th string notes, particularly the
B note in the Em9 and the C from in C/G chord. I also like to walk up from the Em to the
C/G and improvise different picking patterns.
The same chords are used (with capo on 3) in Girl from the North Country from the
Freewheelin’ album (1963).

Lyrics and Chords:
Each chord below represents half a bar from the tab above apart from G D7/F# at the
end of the last line which together are half a bar.
Em9 Em9 D7/F# G C/G G
Oh, I'm sailin' away my own true love
Em9 D7/F# G C/G G
I'm sailin' away in the mornin'
Em Em C/G G C/G G
Is there something I can send you from across the sea
Em9 D7/f# G/C G G D7/F# G
From the place that I'll be landing?
No, there's nothing you can send me my own true love.
There's nothing I'm a-wishin' to be ownin'.
Just a-carry yourself back to me unspoiled
From across that lonesome ocean.
Ah, but I just thought you might want something fine
Made of silver or of golden
Either from the mountains of Madrid
Or the coast of Barcelona.
But if I had the stars of the darkest night
And the diamonds from the deepest ocean,
I'd forsake them all for your sweet kiss,
For that's all I'm wishin' to be ownin'.
But I might be gone a long old time,
And it's only that I'm askin'.
Is there something I can send you to remember me by,
To make your time more easy passin'?
Oh how can, how can you ask me again?
It only brings me sorrow.
The same thing I would want today
I would want again tomorrow.
Oh I got a letter on a lonesome day.
It was from her ship a'sailin',
Sayin' "I don't know when I'll be comin' back again,
It depends on how I'm a-feelin'."
If you my love must think that a'way
I'm sure your mind is a'roamin'.
I'm sure your thoughts are not with me
But with the country to where you're goin'.
So take heed, take heed of the Western winds.
Take heed of the stormy weather.
And yes, there's something you can send back to me:
