Foam Born (A): The Backtrack - Between the Buried and Me
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Jason Paszek (Autopoietic Boy)
Email: J.W.Paszek.Guitar.Instruction@gmail.com
Tuning: Standard (EADGBe)
I'm sure this song's not in standard tuning, but the intro which is played
on the piano (transcribed for guitar) is obviously in standard tuning. I
selected "intro", but really I've tabbed it a bit further (to about 2:18 in
the song) right before the blast beats and deep chugs.
Piano intro transcribed for guitar:

If you knew how to read music you'd realize my tab's almost exactly the same. The 7th fret of the E string tuned to C# is a G# just like the 6th fret of the D string in standard tuning. If you'd actually play the tab to the song you'd realize it's the same only it's transcribed in standard tuning. And notice the preface above the tab: "I'm sure this song's NOT in standard tuning". Same notes, different tuning. A G# major is a G# major whether its in standard or dropped a whole step and a half.
I transcribe tabs by EAR, not by duplicating something I found in a book which is what you're supposed to do here. I KNOW you could go on.....um....you paid $20 some odd dollars for a book. I get it. But you DO realize bands/artists don't transcribe their own tab books, right? I'm sure it's plenty accurate, but it's almost identical to my tab only its tuned down a full step and a half. Just look at the chords you plagiarised from your book: G# A#m Am Ab#5 C Fm
Then look at my tab: G# A#m Am Ab#5 C Fm
Exactly the same. Just a different tuning like I said in the first sentence before ever writing the tab. But if it felt good to think you were proving someone you don't even know wrong even though you didn't and you used someone else's work to do it, then good for you. I'm going to get back to actually transcribing tabs, which it seems you don't really do hardly at all.
And by the way, noticed you submitted two lessons (didn't look at them), but before you start teaching others, you might want to learn a bit more yourself because anyone with intermediate knowledge of music theory would have seen right off the bat that the two tabs are musically identical. Maybe try learning songs by ear, develop pitch recognition and tonal memory, then you won't have to waste money on books that give everything away without even having to think or do any work yourself. Just a suggestion.
I WILL admit innaccurate tuning. Ya got me. Still an accurate tab though. Put down those books, develop that ear and learn a bit more about music in general versus reading tablature which is really just a laymen's method for those who can't read music or understand theory and you'll learn in time.

Thanks, I'll have to check. I have the album, but the CD's all scratched up, so I just went off youtube. It's the first song on the album isn't it?
