Like a lot of the early Beegees songs, Barry plays
this on guitar in an open tuning.

The 4th and 5th strings remain as in standard tuning,
the rest are detuned as shown below:
Using a chromatic tuner may make the retuning for this
song a bit easier

OPEN 'D' TUNING: D-A-D-F#-A-D
Tune both E strings down a tone to D
Tune the B string down a tone to A
Tune the G string down a semi-tone to F#

See Barry Gibb's acoustic performance at this link:

In the video Barry skips the C chords and goes straight
to the G chord instead. I've made the addition of the
G4, D7 and C to be more like the original single,
to add a little more detail.

 G   = 555555   (G4) = 555655
 A   = 777777    Bb  = 888888
 D   = 000004    F   = 333333
(D7) = 000034   (C)  = 10-10-10-10-10-10

N.C. = No chords

I tour managed the Bee Gees in 1968, and co-engineered the album, "Life In A Tin Can" with the late Mike Stone at the LA Record Plant. Barry explained to me his love and use for open tunings. I perform on occasion, and appreciate spotlighting what is truly Gibb genius. This will go a long way to give that insight. Thank you, DiddyD. Yours in music, Chuck Leary.
