A. INTRO by Klaus "Major" Heuser (BAP)

III. Now the English interpretation, quite crude, I must admit. As for its
contents: it's not meant to be politically, but just a plain story about
an old tramp from Cologne creating his own, probably past in order to
dispace bad remembrances (check it out):

I hope there is some positive resonance for this song. If you have ideas of
how to create a more apt English translation (I'm not a native Engish speaker)
you are welcome.
                                                                      Ralf.

Probably years too late, but thanx for this work of love! Just think the last bass note of the intro should be D, not A (it even says D major) - I seem to remember it played like this in the Major-approved tabs book (30 years ago...), and it sure sounds like it to me. But again, thanx a million! Keep rockin´!

I'm an American who lived in Germany when this song (and album) came out. "Verdammt lang her" was a hit on the radio and induced me to buy the album. This song is probably the finest on the album. The little German that I could speak at the time was no help in trying to understand the words, but now that I'm fluent, it is a little easier to figure out what he is saying. I thought the song was haunting and sad, and it is only now reviewing the lyrics, that I understand the full power of it. Well done BAP! I am still a novice guitar player, but I am trying to learn this song. The intro is beyond my skill level right now, but the main verses are really not that hard. Many thanks to Ralf Gesellensetter for a very fine tab.
