Capo II
D C G
G C
I don't want your lonely mansion with a chill in every room
G D
I just want the love you promised beneath the halo'd moon
G C
But you think I should be happy with your money and your name
G D G
And pretend that I don't notice while you play your cheating games
G C G
Silver threads and golden needles can't patch up this heart of mine
D
And I never drown my sorrow in the warm glow of your wine
G C
You can't buy my love with money for I never was that kind
G D G
Silver threads and golden needles can't patch up this heart of mine
G D G
G C
I grew up in faded gingham where love is a sacred thing
G D
You grew up in silk and satin where love is a passing game
G C
I know now you never loved me and I know I was the fool
G D G
To think your pride would let you live by the golden rule
G C G
Silver threads and golden needles can t patch up this heart of mine
D
And I never drown my sorrow in the warm glow of your wine
G C
You can't buy my love with money for I never was that kind
G D G
Silver threads and golden needles can't patch up this heart of mine

It's "mend this heart of mine". Other than that, great.

Wanda's version was the first recording of the song, and used "patch up." Later recordings used "mend" and dropped the second verse, which should read "faded gingham." Faded denim works well for a male singer.

So many transcribers miss that word in the first line - it's not "tear" it's "chill." Also, she didn't grow up in a faded keno, she grew up in faded "gingham."
