Two versions of this battled it out on the US charts: one by the composer,
Eddie Rambeau, and a cover by the Unit 4+2. This transcription is of the
latter, which was probably recorded in C and sped up to Db for the single.

                          "Concrete And Clay"
                            (Eddie Rambeau)

Intro:

cowbell and finger cymbal [4 bars]

        G7
        / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

Verse 1:

        G7
        You to me
                      C
Are sweet as roses in the morning
            G7
        And you to me
                      C F
Are soft as summer soft as summer rain at dawn, in love we share
              Em
        That something rare

Chorus:

             Dm
        The sidewalks in the street
             G7 C
The concrete and the clay beneath my feet
                  Am/E
        Begins to crumble
             F G7
        But love will never die
                        C Am/E
Because we'll see the mountains tumble
           F G7
        Before we say goodbye

                    F
My love and I will be
            E G7/D
        In love eternally
         G7
        That's the way
                         C
Mmm, that's the way it's meant to be

Verse 2:

        All around
I see the purple shades of evening
        And on the ground
The shadows fall and once again you're in my arms
        So tenderly

[repeat chorus]

Instrumental break:

(acoustic guitar solo over verse chords)

[repeat chorus]

Coda

             G7
        And that's the way
                    C
That's the way it's meant to be

        That's the way
(that's the way it's meant to be)
        Whoa, that's the way
That's the way it's meant to be [fade]

Kudos to Ace, Andrew Rogers! He was a really nice guy who was there at the beginning of the net sharing all of his cool and precise transcriptions. He passed away a while back from Lymphoma.
