Doo do do doo do do doo do oooh wooo

                   C G
One time I spent a week inside a little county jail

                  C G
And I don't guess I'll ever live it down

                   C G
I was sitting at a red light when these two men came and got me

    C D7
And said that I was speeding through their town

G C G
Well they said tomorrow morning you can see the judge then go

                     C G
They let me call one person on the phone

                 C G
I thought I'd be there overnight so I just called my boss

   C D7
To tell him I'd be off but not for long

G C G
They motioned me inside a cell with seven other guys

                         C G
And one little barred up window in the rear

                     C G
My cell mate said if they had let me bring some money in

   C D7
We ought to send the jailer for some beer

G C G
Well I had to pay him double cause he was the man in charge

                         C G
And the jailer's job was not the best in town

                  C G
Later on his wife brought hot baloney eggs and gravy

    C D7
The first day I was there I turned it down

G C G
Next morning they just let us sleep but I was up real early

               C G
Wondering when I'd get my release

                C G
Later on we got more hot baloney eggs n' gravy

   C D7
By now I wasn't quite so hard to please

G C G
Two days later when I thought that I had been forgotten

                    C G
The sheriff came in chewing on a straw

                     C G
He said where is the guy who thinks that this is Indianapolis

    C D7
I'd like to talk to him about the law

G C G
Well I told him who I was and told him I was working steady

      C G
And I really should be getting on my way

                   C G
That part about me being who I was did not impress him

   C D7
He said the judge would be here any day

G C G
The jailer had a wife and let me tell ya she was awful

                         C G
But she brought that hot baloney every day

                C G
And after seven days she got to looking so much better

  C D7
I asked her if she'd like to run away

G C G
Next morning that ole judge took every nickel that I had

                         C G
And he said son let this teach you not to race

                      C G
The jailer's wife was smiling from the window as I left

   C D7
In thirty minutes I was outta state

G
