G D
I felt no guilt till I was caught
Em
And I was told that I was guilty,
C G D
And even then I wasn't really sure, yeah yeah.
C G
The thing I felt was guilt itself
D Em
Or maybe it was something else,
C D
Frustration at the fact that I was ever caught at all.
G D
I told a lie, I multiplied it
Em
By the time I realized it
C G D
I'd given up everything I ever loved, yeah yeah.
C
Cause the thing you lack
G
When you're looking back,
D Em
Is the pressure the fear that you have to act
C
Yeah everything is clearer when
D
You're looking at the past, oh no.
Em Am C D
Em Am C D
C G D
And I don't care if I lose because my heroes did too,
Em C
They shouted, "Court should be adjourned!" Because the jury are fools.
G D
And the judge can't decipher his left from his right Or his right from his wrong.
C G
And I will bite the hand that thieves,
D
I will not turn the other cheek, this is no threat
Em C
It is a promise I will keep.
G
So what's the point pretending when we've seen behind
D
the curtain and there's nothing much to see, oh yeah.
G D C D
G D C D
G D
I felt no pain till I was down,
Em
And I was told that I was bleeding.
C G D
And even then I knew I wasn't done, yeah yeah.
C
'Cause the scars I get
G
They will just collect,
D Em
Insuring that I won't forget.
C
Reminders of the battles
D
That I've lost and that I've won
G D
And I will fight 'til I have died
Em
Or all my enemies are allies
C G D
And even then I will sleep with an open eye, yeah yeah.
C G
'Cause the night is long and our foes are strong
D Em
But I know the road we travel on
C
It only seems so dark
D
Because we've almost reached the dawn, oh no.
Em Am C D
Em Am C D

G D C D
Em C
And everyone will claim
G D
That they knew from the beginning.
Em C
That what they did was wrong,
G D
But they still just went on sinning.
Em
The sudden rush you feel
C G
When realizing everything you know
D
Will fade away, it haunts you deep,
Em
But you won't want to let it go.
C
Someday we'll lose the war,
G D
But 'til then we will dream of winning.
C G
I won't forget,
D
The things you said,
Em C
When I was down and I was tired of it.
G
The words you spoke,
D*
They brought me home.
C G
When it was time to fight,
D
I chose a side,
Em C
But I knew in my heart that something didn't feel right.
G
So I stood my ground,
D*
And waited for a sign.

Instead of going from "G" to "D" on the first line, it's actually a fairly simple progression Toh Kay uses in songs like Watch It Crash where he goes G, G with a Gb as the bass, then an Em, so it'd be like 320003, 220003, then 02200(3 or 0, personal preference). But the rest of it sounds pretty good
+1

Great catch Trickydano, definitely sounds better. I would write it as G, D/F#, Em. The reason being its a D chord with the F# base note (F# is in the key of G where as Gb is not). Personally i would play it as 200230 but that’s personal preference.

Just noticed in the GDCD part an E-minor fits better in the song than the second D so
GEmCD, it just fits for me, I'm doing by memory so dunno if anyone has found that progression weird as well
