[Intro]
G G7M Em7 G7M G

[Verse 1]
   G G7M
I have a friendly dog
       Em7 G7M
that likes to run around
    G G7M D7
You may have seen us on our daily walk
        D7
We frequent the river and
     D7
the parks around the town
       D7
When I see someone I know she always
 G D7 G
lets me stop and talk
   G G7M
She gets a little anxious
         Em7 G7M
when she sees another dog
         E7 E7 Am
But with people she's always been relaxed
           C Cm6
But she's not very discerning
         G E7
when it comes to choosing friends
           A7 A7
And there seems to be a certain type
     D7
of person she attracts

[Verse 2]
 G G7M
All the the local winos
        Em7 G7M
want to make friends with my dog
        G G7M D7
And I'm far far too polite to walk away
      D7 D7
They ask me lots of questions
         D7 D7
and they offer their affections
       D7 D7 G D7
And I feel obliged to uncomfortably stay
         G GMaj7
Their behavior may be crude
          Em7 GMaj7
but to ignore them would be rude
        E7 E7 Am
and my momma didn't bring me up that way
 C Cm6
All the the local winos
        G E7
want to make friends with my dog
        A7 D7 G D7 G
And I'm far far too polite to walk away

[Interlude]
G G7M Em7 G7M G G7M Em7 G7M

[Verse 3]
 G G7M
She's utterly oblivious
        Em7 G7M
to my concerns of their intent
        G G7M D7
She runs to greet them with a wagging tail
      D7 D7
I desperately search around
         D7 D7
for an easy exit point
       D7 D7
But the incoherent non-talk starts
           G D7
before I have the chance to bail
         G GMaj7
My senses always tell me
          Em7 GMaj7
that I'm going to be mugged
        E7 E7 Am
So I reach to get my wallet and my phone
    C Cm6
I flinch as they utter
       G E7
unintelligible words
         A7
And then sigh with relief
         D7
when I detect a friendly tone

[Verse 4]
 G G7M
All the the local winos
        Em7 G7M
want to make friends with my dog
        G G7M D7
And I'm far far too polite to walk away
  D7 D7
I end up in a fog of fags
     D7 D7
and stale cider breath
      D7 D7 G D7
And I try to hide my obvious dismay
 G G7M
She seems to be a breed
            Em7 G7M
that has a certain appeal
     E7 E7
To types whose diet consists of
          C Am
bargain booze for every meal
 C Cm6
All the the local winos
        G E7
want to make friends with my dog
        A7 D7 G D7 G
And I'm far far too polite to walk away

[Interlude]
G G7M Em7 G7M G G7M Em7 G7M

[Verse 5]
   G G7M
I do my best to avoid
       Em7 G7M
certain areas of the park
    G G7M
Where the druggies and
        D7
the rough teenagers dwell
     D7
I rarely venture out with her
       D7
when it has gotten dark
         D7 D7
Lest we catch the attention
          G D7
of some drunken ne'er-do-well
   G G7M
I try to keep away when
         Em7 G7M
there are people hanging round
       E7 E7
The benches bandstands sitting walls
     Am
and swings on the playground
     C Cm6
And suddenly as if
        G E7
out of nowhere they appear
           A7 A7
Staggering hands out slurring
     D7
WHAAAA Who've we got 'ere?

[Verse 6]
 G G7M
All the the local winos
        Em7 G7M
want to make friends with my dog
        G G7M D7
And I'm far far too polite to walk away
       D7 D7
They greet me with a wink
          D7 D7
and they offer me a drink
       D7 D7
And I say thanks but its
     G D7
too early in the day
         G G7M
Though they catch me unprepared
       Em7 G7M
I've long stopped being scared
   E7 E7
I just find it hard
    C Am
to work out what to say
 C Cm6
All the the local winos
        G E7
want to make friends with my dog
        A7 D7 G D7 G
And I'm far far too polite to walk away

[Verse 7]
 G G7M
All the the local winos
        Em7 G7M
want to make friends with my dog
        G G7M D7
And I'm far far too polite to walk away
    D7 D7
Accessorize with diamond white
     D7 D7
and cans of special brew
     D7 D7
Its really very sweet in
   G D7
its own peculiar way
              G G7M
Though they may cause some alarm
      Em7 G7M
they don't mean any harm
     E7 E7
They only want to come
      C Am
 and have a play
 C Cm6
All the the local winos
        G E7
want to make friends with my dog
        A7 D7 G D7 G
And I'm far far too polite to walk away

I transposed to C as I’m learning but suspect the last three lines of the chorus may need reviewing as believe it should start with D min, still working out the progression. (New to ukulele but I play the piano lol)
