Not sure if this helps anyone or not, but I play this song exactly as listed except all chords are relative to capo 2. I also play it 'finger style'. Great song!

lyrics are pogue-ized. Gun was probably gan or maybe gaun originally (scottish?). Pretty sure he went shooting 'with' the dog not at it. The song is old and in the tradition of folk tunes, adapted to suit the time and singers imagination.
