I went to your schools, I did my detention
But the walls are so gray, I couldn’t pay attention
E
I heard your gospel- it moved me to tears,

I met your Savior, I knelt at his feet,
And he took my ten bucks, and he went down the street
E
I tried to believe all the things that you said,
       A F#
But my friends that aren’t dying are already dead.

I play this on capo 2 and I play the verses in D with up strokes on the G and it sounds a lot better to me. As for your question about the C# or C#m, I think it's a minor chord. (I play it as a B minor since I transposed it to capo 2)
