Couple things - that E should be an Em, although it sounds a little weird if you let the full chord ring out. I'd play 0220 and mute the top two strings. And then for the G, you totally can play the full open chord, but what I do for this song is basically play a variation of the D chord, hammering it on and off to the D to make the transition smoother between the G and D without missing a beat. So, if you play x00032, emphasizing hitting the open G string, and then hammer that to a full D chord, it sounds smoother than switching full G and D chord back in forth, to me anyway.
