Temos uma Tablatura Oficial de Private Idaho criada pelos guitarristas profissionais do UG.
Confira a tablaturaThe B-52s - "Private Idaho," Track 5 from "Wild Planet," 1980.
Tuning:
EBDxBB (no string in the G slot, and 2 B strings.)
Guitar in this song sounds slightly sharper than E Standard in 440 HZ, so if you're tuning
precisely to imitate the album version, tune in 443 HZ.
Not all parts are needed to get the main idea of the song through, but if you
want to play it nearly 100% the same as on the album (which the band never
played exactly the same live as it is on record,) then this tab's for you.
Lyrics are in quotation marks, "Like this."
Notes about the guitar parts are in brackets, (like this.)
There are tone recreation recommendations below the tab.

(Alternatively to the above intro, Ricky didn't play it this same way live; I'm tabbing the album version.
Here's the live version [Apply this missing notes technique to parts later in the song, substitute the
lower notes for this alternate version when the notes overlap; make sure to play the high notes, though.])

(At this point, the rhythm section of the guitar track is more obvious. You could turn the
volume up from about 80 or 90% to 100% before playing this part to get a similar effect.
I don't think the ghost notes shown above exist, I only put them there in case the rest of
Ricky's strumming was effecting the instrument. Also, I'm not sure if Ricky's strumming
3 times (like I noted above) or 2 times.)

Fred: "Livin' in your own Private.... Idahooooooooooooo."
(Note that there are muted strings played in-between the power chords only thrice here. You could improvise
with it if that's good for the situation, however.)

Legend:

* = Mute string;
_ = Let the note ring;
(.) = When above a note, palm mute.
Beneath Tab:
^ = Down Strum
v = Up Strum
The downstrokes and upstrokes make a difference with the higher strings;
however, I only noted it where it matters the most.

Guitar Tone Recommendations:
============================
============
Guitar Used:
It sounds most like Ricky used one of his 4 Mosrite models to record this, and with the Bridge Pickup,
but I'm not sure which model he used.
All of these Mosrite models had Mosrite-spec Pickups and a 24.50" scale length and a neck angle,
but I don't know which guitar he used to record this.
1 - 1966 Mosrite Ventures Mark V, Blue.
2 - 1966 to 1968 Mosrite Ventures Mark V, Sunburst.
3 - 1971 to 1974 Mosrite V-I, Sunburst (like a Ventures model, but without any endorsement from
The Ventures.)
4 - 1966 to 1969 Mosrite Joe Maphis Double Neck
(He may not have ever used the Double Neck to record with, since it's heavy.)
Mosrite Pickups tend to be on the high side in ohm output, and Ricky's Bridge Pickup may have had about
10.5k ohms. But unless I go read his actual guitars' pickups ohm outputs, I don't know for sure what it is.
The pickups between a V-I (or Ventures model) and a Mark V are considerably different; the Ventures and
V-I models have pole pieces in the center, and the magnets themselves are beneath the coil. But a Mark V
has the magnets in the center of the coil, and they're not adjustable, and they should give
a different magnetic field than a Ventures or V-I model.
Also, the V-I models had the pickups cheapened compared to earlier Ventures models from the 60s.
...
However, Mosrite models are either prohibitively expensive to many people, or they're just not
easy to find to buy in-person.
If you really like this tone and want something very close that's cheaper than most listings of
Vintage Mosrite models, then go for a Hallmark. They're not exactly the same, but they're very close.
Their scale lengths are 24.75" instead of 24.50, and the pickups are potted (originals weren't potted.)
Plus they use different body wood (originals are basswood.) Also, 1960s Mosrites had very narrow necks.
(Mine is 1.550" at the zero fret, that's not a joke or exaggeration for how thin it is.)
Hallmarks are about $1,000 new with a hard case included.
===============
Live Tone note:
Ricky used his Danelectro-built Silvertone 1448 (23.50" scale) to play this song live in 1979.
He later started to play it on a Danelectro Pro model (21" scale) in 1980.
Danelectros don't sound much like a Mosrite at all, they sound very different; Danelectro Pickups
tend to be in the 2.90k to 3.60k range.
=============================
String Gauge Recommendations:
.056, .044, .034, empty, .018p, .018p.
I'm not quite clear on this for studio tone, this is based on a scan of
Keith Bennett's [Ricky's Guitar Tech's] Guitar Tuning Notebooks. It may be
a little off-kilter compared to the studio tone.

Great job here! For a Jam purpose, I need to figure in Standard Tuning by ear... At least we have some basic chords used E-G-A Thanks!

I can't fathom trying to accurately tab out Ricky Wilson guitar parts...you friggin' rock!

Update: My tab could be a lot better. I'll make a better one, Disregard this current one.
