[Verse 1]
C
Drownin' in the Blue Nile
                    F
He sent me "Downtown Lights"
                         C
I hadn't heard it in a while

My boredom's bone deep
                         F
This cage was once just fine

Am I allowed to cry?

[Verse 2]
C
I dream of crackin' locks
                         F
Throwin' my life to the wolves or the ocean rocks
                  C
Crashin' into him tonight, he's a paradox

I'm seeing visions
     F G G
Am I bad or mad or wise?

[Chorus]
              C
What if he's written "Mine"
              G F
on my upper thigh only in my mind?
                     C G
I'm slippin', fallin' back into the hedge maze
                  F
Oh, what a way to die
                   F G
I keep recalling things we never did
               C Am
Messy top lip kiss, how I long for our trysts
             F
Without ever touchin' his skin
         G C
How can I be guilty as sin?

[Verse 3]
                      F
I keep these longings locked
                      C
In lowеrcase inside a vault
                                               F
Someonе told me, "There's no such thing as bad thoughts
                        C
Only your actions talk"
             C
These fatal fantasies
                       F
Giving way to labored breath takin' all of me
                             C
We've already done it in my head, if it's make-believe
                         F G G
Why does it feel like a vow we'll both uphold somehow?

[Chorus]
              C
What if he's written "Mine"
              G F
on my upper thigh only in my mind?
                     C G
I'm slippin', fallin' back into the hedge maze
                   F
Oh, what a way to die
                   F G
My bed sheets are ablaze, I've screamed his name
                 C Am
Buildin' up like waves crashin' over my grave
             F
Without ever touchin' his skin
         G C
How can I be guilty as sin?

[Bridge]
           G F
What if I roll the stone away?
                               C
They're gonna crucify me anyway
                   G F
What if the way you hold me is actually what's holy?
                   F G
If long-suffering propriety is what they want from me
            C Am
They don't know how you've haunted me so stunningly
          F G C
I choose you and me religiously

[Chorus]
              C
What if he's written "Mine"
              G F
on my upper thigh only in my mind?
                     C G
I'm slippin', fallin' back into the hedge maze
                  F
Oh, what a way to die
                   F G
I keep recalling things we never did
               C Am
Messy top lip kiss, how I long for our trysts
             F
Without ever touchin' his skin
         G C
How can I be guilty as sin?

 C F

I find playing the F and C as Maj7 chords add something edgy, but that's just to my taste - this version here is very accurate to the song :)

the C chord listed in the verses should be an Am, and the last chord of the chorus listed as a C should also be Am. I watched an eras tour acoustic performance of it and that's how she plays it. the bridge should be C, G, F, F, (then the second repitition of the bridge "what if...") C, G, F, F (if long-suffering..), G (want from me), C walk down - It's like a C chord with just your first and third finger and the third finger plays that 3rd fret note on the 5th string, then your second finger plays the 2nd fret of that 5th string, and then the second finger moves up to the 4th string second fret (they don't *know* how you've *haunted* me so *stunningly* I choose), F (you and me), G (religiously). I am looking at her eras tour performance and I think maybe her F chords are open as well. Look it up on TikTok to confirm but that's what I noticed!
