This is the mysterious chord at the end of the line "primed for dancing".It kind of flattens the sound out.

This is perfect. I like to change the last chord on odd lines to a 7. It helps transition and give it a bit of a sadder tone. So it would look like this: C C/B Am Am7 You gonna look fine, be primed for dancing C C/B G GYou're gonna trip and glide all on the trembling plane C C/B Am D7Your diamond hands will be stacked with roses C G C CAnd wind and cars and people of the past
Excuse the formatting. Space out the chords the way they are i the original of course.

I'd say the mystery chord is x01110. You can clearly hear the high E on the record, and just sliding those three fingers down a fret from the A chord is a typical Marc Bolan move. Don't bother naming that chord. With Marc Bolan on the guitar we are beyond the narrow world of musical theory.
