The easiest way to play this is by using a variety of barred voicings for the chords.
These voicings simplify the chord changes in the song, and also sound closer to the original atmosphere:
Bb 688766
C x55533 or E shape barred on 8th fret
Ab 466544
Db 446664
Eb 668886
Fm7 x810898 or 131111
Abmaj7 46554x
D x57775 or E shape barred on 10th fret

cheers :)
I recently figured out that playing this tune, on guitar, you may put the chords only on 3 strings - D G B - (triads) starting with the Bb on 6th fret .
In other words, all chords will be closer to each other, and symmetrically accurate .

Here are the voicings I use, for the verses - near the "middle C" on the fretboard . As you may have noticed, both E-strings & the A-string are only occasionally used . E A D G B EBb : X X 8 7 6 XC : X X 5 5 5 X Ab : X X 6 5 4 X C# : X X 6 6 6 X D# : X X 8 8 8 X Fm7 : X 8 X 8 9 X AbMaj7 : X X 6 8 8 8 Naturally there are a bunch of other voicings possible . It's all about comfort and personal convenience, I believe. I think the middle-C-voicing above, enables you to toss around with the notes, so to speak, to make small slides ( from C# to D# ) etc...
