Bleed Together was formerly released in the US on Soundgarden's greatest hits album A-Sides. The 1997
compilation came after the band had broken up. The song had already appeared previously as a B-side on some
international editions of the Burden In My Hand single off the 1996 Down On The Upside album and Australasian
tour bonus CD Down Under On The Upside. Originally recorded during those album sessions, Kim Thayil said that
the record company wanted the song on DOTU, but that the band scrapped it due to being unhappy with the mix.
He also noted that what ultimately got released was just one of many different mixes at their disposal!
It got another release on Echo Of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across The Path in 2014.
There are two rhythm guitars that can be separated into the left and right channel. They are often playing
the same parts, but will stray in places. Playing together during the verses until the very end of the bar,
only the right channel keeps playing ornaments. The endings of the pre-choruses too are different between the
channels. One of the bridge segments also has distinct parts. And starting at 2:38, this sees both using only
light gain. Before and after this, they play the rest of the song with heavy distortion. So does the
additional lead guitar which plays overlays during the intro, first pre-chorus and both choruses.
It also plays two solos: One in a little interlude and one during the bridge.
The tuning is standard (EADGbe) and the time signature 4/4.
