What is soooo interesting about the structure of this song is that after the flute instrumental
Ebmaj7 |Eb7 |B7 Db |Gbmaj7 |
Abm Bb7 Ebm Gb |Bmaj7 |
B |Gb
Abm |G |Gb
Right after that Gb he goes straight back to the Gm7 in (architects may come...). The 1st time he sang it, it was coming from the F F7 Gm7.
Some people have mentioned that he actually takes the capo off during the song but I don't think he would ever do that. I think the key is that he goes back to the Gm7, even though the 2nd time he's coming off of those Gb Gb7 chords...
It can be a little tricky to sing that because the music is pushing you to go to G#m7 (Gb Gb7 Abm??)...
What do folks think??

A difficult but wonderful piece and a lot of hard work done here. I transposed to E (I think, first chord CM7/last E) and dumped the capo for vocal reasons. The offered chord over "so" in the last line doesn't work for me and a restrike of the same chord used for the final "long" in the line above sounds better to my ear. If you've performed the whole thing successfully to your enraptured audience, I guess either chord will please !
