Intro part changed to include the changing bass notes and the chords Ruston plays before the verse.
Pretty much every time the Am7 is played he plays the riff thing.

Am7 Am7
[Verse 1]
D
Pretty wings, you're the prettiest thing
C
You're like Parker Posey in a magazine
G Am7
With faded jeans and a crop top back in '93
D
I wanna be your dressed-in-black
C
Your dark star with a backwards hat
G Am7
I'm gonna write a book and put your name on every page
C
Every page
[Chorus]
C G
Hey pretty little mockingbird
D Em D C
Keep singin' them sad, sad songs
G
There's already rain on my window
D Em D
I'm dyin' when the morning comes
C G
Flew away in the night with the raven
D Em D
Now I'm underneath the willows hangin'
C G D
I'm too strung out to be upside down
C D Am7
Pretty little mockingbird, sing me a song
[Verse 2]
D
I was the desert, honey, you were the sand
C
I was a bird, baby, you were the branch
G Am7
And I flew into the blue and watched those flow-ers dyin'
D
It wasn't much, just everything
C
You could've sat right there and got high with me
G Am7
But you fell asleep and your dreamin' brought the nightmares
C
Brought the nightmares
[Chorus]
C G
Hey pretty little mockingbird
D Em D C
Keep singin' them sad, sad songs
G
There's already rain on my window
D Em D
I'm dyin' when the morning comes
C G
Flew away in the night with the raven
D Em D
Now I'm underneath the willows hangin'
C G D
I'm too strung out to be upside down
C D Am7
Pretty little mockingbird, sing me a song
[Solo]
C G D Em D x4
[Chorus]
C G
Hey pretty little mockingbird

Thanks for tabbing this great song. I walk the base down in the intro and verses - so you start with the D as you have, then the bass switches to a C on the A string and then a G on the low E. I believe this is what he’s doing in the YouTube video from “Live at Carrboro”. Not sure if the album version walks the bass or not. Thanks again!

Can anybody help me identify what the strum pattern is? Thank you!

The Am7 riff in the intro needs to be strummed and slided twice at each Am7 notes in verses and at the end of each chorus.
