Carrickfergus chords
Irish Folk ("There Was a Noblewoman") as performed by Paddy Reilly **

Capo II *
G
G Am D G Em
I wish I was in Carrickfergus,
Am D C G Gsus4 G
only for nights in Ballygran
Am D G Em
I would swim over the deepest ocean,
Am D C G Gsus4 G
only for nights in Ballygran
G Em C D
But the sea is wide and I cannot swim over
Em G C D
And neither have I the wings to fly
Am D G Em
I wish I could find me a handsome boatsman
Am D C G
To ferry me over, to my love and die.
G Am D G Em
But in Kilkenny, it is reported,
Am D C G Gsus4 G
On marble stones there as black as ink
Am D G Em
With gold and silver I would support her,
Am D C G C G
But I'll sing no more now, 'till I get a drink.
G Em C D
For I'm drunk today, and I'm seldom sober,
Em G C D
A handsome rover from town to town
Am D G Gsus4 G
Ah, but I'm sick now, my days are numbered,
Am D C G C G
Come all you young men and lay me down.

I think it sounds better with an Em at the start of the line on "To ferry.." and Come all...". And maybe lose the C on the last line of verses 2 and 4 and stick with D through to the final G.
