[Verse 1]
E
We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee;
B7
We don't take our trips on LSD
B7
We don't burn our draft cards down on Main Street;
E
We like livin' right, and bein' free.
[Chorus]
E
I'm proud to be an Oakie from Muskogee,
B7
A place where even squares can have a ball ----
B7
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
E
And white lightin's still the biggest thril of all
[Verse 2]
We don't make a party out of lovin';
We like holdin' hands and pitchin' woo;
We don't let our hair grow long and shaggy,
Like the hippies out in San Francisco do.
[Chorus]
E
I'm proud to be an Oakie from Muskogee,
B7
A place where even squares can have a ball ----
B7
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
E
And white lightin's still the biggest thril of all
[Verse 3]
Leather boots are still in style for mainly footwear;
Beads and roman sandals won't be seen.
Football's still the roughest thing on campus,
And the kids here still respect the college dean.
[Chorus]
E
I'm proud to be an Oakie from Muskogee,
B7
A place where even squares can have a ball ----
B7
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
E
And white lightin's still the biggest thril of all
[Outro]
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
In Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA.

Country music almost EXCLUSIVLY uses chords I, IV, and V of the scale of the song they are singing. That being said, if you listen to this song closely, you will hear that it is DEFINITELY in the key of Eb.
The chords used are Eb, Bb, and Ab (for a short while, somewhere in the chorus- easy to overlook this change). For future refrence, the Eb scale is Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb, C, D: note that I, IV, and V are Eb, Ab, and Bb!
Eb is the D chord up an octave, Bb is A up an octave, and i play Ab by making an F chord on the 4th fret.
+1

when i said octave, i meant fret! Oops!!!

remove chorus after "living right being free"
There's a chord change (not an E) at "And leather boots"
Second last line is "An' white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all" not "we still wave old glory down at the courthouse".
Good though. Great summertime song.
