[Intro]
G C G D G

[Verse]
        G C
I can't stand to see, a good man go to waste
       G D
One who never combs his hair or shaves his face
   G C
A man who leans on wine, over love that's told a lie
       G D G
Oh it tears me up to see a grown man cry

[Chorus]
   G C
So I never go around mirrors
       G D
I can't stand to see me without you by my side
G C
I never go around mirrors
  G D G
'Cause I've got a heartache to hide

[Instrumental]
G C G D G

[Verse]
       G C
I can’t stand to be where heartaches hang around
       G D
It’s so easy for the blues to get me down
    G C
To see a grown man crawl is more than I can stand
          G D G
And I can’t look into the eyes of half a man

[Chorus]
   G C
So I never go around mirrors
       G D
I can't stand to see me without you by my side
G C
I never go around mirrors
  G D G
'Cause I've got a heartache to hide
        G D G
and it tears me up to see a grown man cry

E, A and a B7 work better for Keith Whitley version

Keith played it this way (G C & D) on Sad Songs and Waltzes though on Kentucky Bluebird he recorded it using the chords E A and B7 (same as Daryl and Sturgill and many others ,it was originally by Lefty in the key of D (D G A)
