the "G2" is more likely Am13/G or Am7+4/G
spelling out the notes as a chord= A C E G (B is skipped) D
spelling out the notes as they're played = G A D G C E
new to guitar, so not sure if calling it Am13/G or Am7+4/G is correct, but thought I'd chime in that it's definitely an A minor chord with additions, not a G chord.

Your instructions say to tune the high E down to D, which results in some interesting voicings that sound correct (though they don't match the chord symbols).
Your chord chart, however, says to tune the low E down to D, which doesn't work at all for the G chords.
