Jon picks some variation of these chords throughout, listen to hear the pattern. The "A
A7)" means that I couldn't decide which one was right/best, so play whichever you decide

Actually it is G/C D/B G/E in slash notation. It is not the straightforward walkdown of G F# E that we assume, instead the walkdown is C B E over chords G D G.
In classical music theory these chords are Cmaj9, Bm7, Em7 all found in the key of G major. However, since the song resolves on the D chord, and with the sudden inclusion of the A chord directly after the above walkdown, it can be said that the G major key is a borrowed key, or modal, as the piece up until this point, and after, is unarguably written in D major.
Probably too much information for a Jon Foreman piece, but I figure someone will appreciate it and perhaps learn from it, plus I hate inaccuracies. :)
Good luck fellow musicians!

On all the Choruses, it should just be a walkdown from G to F# on the E string
G (F#)Em7
inside your o-pen arms
