[Lyrics]

Intro

(1a) "Welcome to the real world", she said to me
     condescendingly
     Take a seat
     Take your life
Plot it out in black and white
(1b) Well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
     and the drama queens
I'd like to think the best of me
is still hiding up my sleeve

(2) They love to tell you
     stay inside the lines
(3) But something's better
     on the other side

(4) I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above

(1a) So the good boys and girls take the so called right track
     faded white hats
     grabbing credits
     maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can't find the answers
(1b) And all of our parents
     they're getting older
I wonder if they've wished for anything better
     while in their memories
     tiny tragedies

(2) They love to tell you
     stay inside the lines
(3) But something's better
     on the other side

(4) I wanna run through the halls of my high school
     I wanna scream at the
     top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above

(5) I am invincible
     I am invincible
     I am invincible
as long as I'm alive (2)

(4) I wanna run through the halls of my high school
     I wanna scream at the
     top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above
(4) I just can't wait till my ten year reunion
I'm gonna bust down the double doors
and when I stand on these tables before you
you will know what all this time was for

Ends on (079890)

I used the Conan O'Brien performance and a webcast at getmusic.com

Zpeed, you did do a good job, actually! I'm mostly happy that with the tabs written here the song sounds close enough to the song from the radio, etc. But thanks a lot to Pedro for his insight. That part does sound more real, sorry. And I couldn't not understand what was with all the additions of "Shannon" did it this way, "Alan" did it this way, etc. I want to know what the best way to play the song is. Those little additions have confused the hell out of me. I will look at others' version of the tap, but thanks a lot what what you did! You obviously spent a lot of time for it, and it makes the song work.
