[Chorus]
         D G D
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone,
                                       Em7 A7
Let’s pretend that we’re together all alone,
              D D7 G
I’ll tell the man to turn the jukebox way down low,
            D A7
and you can tell your friend there with you,
              D G D
He’ll have to go,

[Verse 1]
A7 D G D
Whisper to me, tell me do you love me true,
                               Em7 A7
or is he holding you the way I do?
             D D7 G
Tho’ love is blind make up your mind I’ve got to know,
         D A7
Should I hang up, or will you tell him,
              D
He’ll have to go,

[Middle Section]
          G
You can’t say the words I want to hear,
             D D7
while you're with another man,
       G
If you want me answer, yes or no,
        D A7
darling I will understand,

[Chorus]
A7 D G D
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone,
                                      Em7 A7
Let’s pretend that we’re together all alone,
              D D7 G
I’ll tell the man to turn the jukebox way down low,
            D A7
and you can tell your friend there with you,
              D
He’ll have to go.

Yeah, I just post them as I play them. My crooning voice doesn't quite reach the lows of Jim unfortunately!

i like this way of tabbing, cause he puts the chords in the lines, so you dont have to figure out when exactly to play the next chord. often they are in other tabs not in the exact position.

I am thinking the original transposition was done to take away all the bar chords and get into natural chords. It works, and I personally like it. At least the vocals fall a little higher in the scale, and that helps a little for those of us who are not bass singers. I do agree though that it is a little higher than the record was. I am still ok with it, and you can always move it back down, so no harm, no foul, just hit the transpose button until you like the key.
