LOVER YOU SHOULD'VE COME OVER - Jeff Buckley
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Joe Hoblyn
Email: hoblyn.01@hotmail.co.uk

Tuning: Standard

This song is in triple metre 6/8 time, so has a triplet feel. This is just
what I heard from listening to the song, so I'm not certain all the chords
are completely perfect, but it plays fine along with the recording. I named a few
of the chords wrong in the tab, for example 9th chords like D9 and Em9 are
actually added 9th chords.

The tab is written with just block chords, so listen to the song yourself
to get the rhythm of the chords and phrase them how you feel is right. Any
chord mentioned should be tabbed out fully earlier in the song.

Enjoy!

The tab you write as F#7 #5 should be like this: [tab] e |---------------| B |----------3----| G |-------3-------| D |----2----------| A |---------------| E |-2-------------| [/tab] That is, on third fret on G and B instead of fourth.

This song is deep and incredibly sad if you listen to it from the perspective that he's singing to the embodiment of "death" as his lover. The song opens on a funeral, immediately symbolizing death and then he talks about how maybe he's too young (to die) to keep good love (for death) from going wrong. The symbolism he uses about giving all of his blood for the sweetness of his lover's laughter (referring to killing himself to be with death), or how he's willing to give up his kingdom and how "it's never over" (life). He talks about how his body turns and yearns for a "sleep" that won't ever come (an eternal sleep). It's morose but makes for a more complex and beautifully tragic song.

Great Tab! In the end the lead guitar does something like this on the top 4 strings: [tab] G|------------|------------|------------|------------| D|------------|------------|------------|------------| A|------------|5-----------|--------0---|1-----0-----| E|2-----------|--------2---|3-----------|--------3---| G|------------|------------|------------|--------2---| D|------------|------------|------------|5-----------| A|------------|--------5---|2-------5---|------------| E|2-----------|5-----------|------------|------------| G|------------|2-------4---|------------|------------| D|--------2---|------------|2-----------|------------| A|4-----------|------------|------------|5-----------| E|------------|------------|------------|------------| G|------------|------------|------------|------------| D|------------|------------|------------|------------| A|4-----2-----|------------|------------|------------| E|------------|5-----2-----|2-0---------|------------|[/tab]
