VERSE:
        C Am
At the end of this run down tenement hall
        C G C
Is the room of a girl I know
     Am C Dm C
She cowers behind all the dead bolt locks
               G C
Afraid of the outside world

    F Em
So how should I come to the one I love?
Dm G C C Dm Am F C
  I will find a way

VERSE:
       C F C
Many thieves and collectors have used that door
     C G Am
But they only brought her shame
        C Am
So she won't even open it anymore
      F G C
Still I will find a way

VERSE:
         C F C
I could call out her name with love through the walls
     F G Am
Condemnation is all she hears
         C F C
I could break down the door and take her into my arms
          F G Am
But she might die from the fear

CHORUS:
    Am F C
So how should I come to the one I love?
        Dm C G
I will find a way, I will find a way
 F C
How should I come to the one I love?
F G C C F C
 I will find a way

BREAK:
C
No hiding place ever kept her safe
        Dm C G
So she hides inside herself
         C
Now to reach her heart the only way
       Dm C G
Is to hide in there as well
        Dm C F Dm Am F C Am
I will hide in there as well

VERSE:
Am G C Dm C
She gave up on love waiting for a change
        F G C
But a change is coming soon
Dm C F C
How could she not love the helpless babe
        F G C
Who is waking in her womb?
F C Dm G
I found a way, I found a way

OUTRO:
        F C
She'll know I am coming before I am here
     Dm C G
When she hangs her head she'll see me there
     F C
And then when I come she won't run away
         Dm C G
All the beauty and joy will return to her face
     F C
And what of the loneliness? Now it is gone
 Dm C G
Lost in the bond of a mother and son
       F C
Every sin that she suffered at the hands of men
       Dm C G
Every single disgrace will be washed clean again
        F G
I will love her completely and when I am grown
        Am C
I will carry her out of that tenement room

Could you mention on the top of the tab that if you play it on capo 5 it is in the same key as what Andy Gullahorn sings it in? That way you can see it on the UG App. Thanks! Such a great song!

I notice that when Jason plays the song he capoes at the 2nd fret as I have indicated. And when Andy plays it he capoes at the 5th fret. Whether or not then the chords remain the same I am not sure unless I try it and currently I don't have my guitar with me.... If I remember I will try it and if he does indeed use the same chords when he capoes at the 5th fret I will make that known at the top of the tab OK. If not, then here is a handy little conversion chart to make the adjustment https://geneclark.com/capochordchart.html Thanks for letting us know this.
