Song: Tea and sympathy (LIVE version)
Artist: Janis Ian
Composer: Janis Ian
Live on BBC TV 'Old Grey Whistle Test'
Tabbed by DJ 9th Dec 2012
Based on the live 1976 'Old Grey Whistle Test'
performance which has a simpler Intro and Coda than
the way Janis plays it on her 'Between the lines'
album version.
During the coda Janis plays an arpeggio on a Bb shape
that slides up two frets to a C shape, but she
doesn't play the top string on either.
She sings a G against the Bb which adds the 6th,
so you can choose to play a Bb, or the fuller Bb6
shape by adding the top string in.
CAPO: 2nd fret
(Will then sound in the video performance key of A)
Chord names & fret positions are relative to the capo
G = 320003 B7 = x21202 Em7 = 022030
C/G = 3x2013 Em = xx2000 Bm = x24432
Am7 = x02010 Em7/D = xx0000 D9/F# = 200210
D7 = xx0212 Cmaj7 = x32000 Bb6 = x13333
D/F# = 20023x A7 = x02020 Bb = x1333x
Emadd9 = 024000 C = x3555x
An alternative voicing for the progression in the
last line of the verses:
G = xx5433 Em = xx2000 Cmaj7 = x32000
D/F# = xx4232 Em7/D = xx0000
