I knew this would be off from the album, given how the albumversions sounded, and the fact that Jackson almost always used the capo for many of his songs. The basic chords are correct however! Been playing the Jackson C. Frank box set for months now,finally compelled me to pull the acoustic out and have a bash at afew of the tunes. Well, some of them the chords are quite simple,I notice, but almost none are still easy, given either Jackson'sintricate fingerpicking work, or his complex rhythms, or both! Even when it's 3, four or five chords. Good lord! The only thingharder is perhaps Nick Drake's oeuvre. Anyway, Cover Me With Roses is the easiest tune to play along with, however, if you're playing to the two versions on Disc 2 of the 3 CD Complete Recordings, version 1 (track 7-Jackson solo with acoustic) is standard tuning with Capo on 3rd fret, whilst the second version with second guitar soloing is Standard with Capo on the 2nd fret. Hope this helps someone! You can play Spanish Moss (chords are like A/Asus2 plus D and G/E mainly) also with Standard and Capo on 3rd fret so it's easy to play both at same position as per the album versions. One correction to my previous comment: I believe the second later
version of "Cover Me With Roses" on the J C. Frank Complete Recordings
is actually Standard Tuning, capo on 2nd Fret, BUT, tune down
the guitar a half-step from concert tuning and use capo on 2nd and
you should be dead-on to the second version. I hope that makes sense.
The first version (1974) is Standard, Capo on 3rd but NOT
down a half-step. You'll get it, just play along with the two versions.
