Bm or D? The walk-down would make it more of an "intermediate" and garner an "excellent" score? Meh ... Whatever. The bottom line is that Pencom went to a lot of trouble here for all of us that use UG, and produced a very usable and very worthy chording to this song. And,this is a lot more than I can say for myself. So, I say hats off to Pencom for transcribing a very difficult song very well! Thanks, again Pencom. When Harry Chapin was alive (his life was cut tragically short by a car accident, I believe) the actual chords used in this song were frequently debated and contested. Perhaps, Harry changed them on his own from time to time. I read somewhere once that no one was really sure of the chords. I know, I know.

I think the Bm could be an D
to me its sounds better

It’s a sad song, therefore, I think the Bm is more fitting than the happier D.
