Hi Marcel,
Thanks for your reply. I must admit, when I read my first reply (after having submitted it...;-(), I already thought I put it too harsh. I did not mean to offend you Marcel!
I see what you mean and how you put the chords. In the future I will read my reply first and then post it..!
My apologies, cheers!

Your apologies are gladly accepted, Gertjan. And allow me to apologize in my turn for the fact that I mistook you for one of those purists dedicated to the high art of making music . You will know them too; those annoying people who actually took the effort to develop the advanced playing skills necessary to pay proper tribute to lovely songs like Fotheringay, instead of taking a blunt axe to chop up its subtly syncopated ¾ measure into a brutal Bavarian barn stomp.
Now, after looking into your suggestion a bit deeper, I see that your chords work better than mine, even when played hoompapa style like:
C G F Am
How often she has gazed from het castle windows all
Em Am
and watched the daylight passing
G Am
Within her captive walls
Especially the C at the beginning, which I suppose is really an Am with the root note left out, brings a lot of the original ring into the song. I will play it this way from now on.
Thank you for your usefull input

The intro and the last line of the verse is right, all the other chords as mentioned above are very, very wrong. Here's how it goes:
C G F Am
How often she has gazed from het castle windows all
Em Am
and watched the daylight passing
G Am
Within her captive walls
