D G 4x

 D G D
Upon my word what does it mean?
      G D
Is it love or is it me
              A
That makes me change so suddenly
             Bm G D G
From looking out to feeling free?

  D G D
I sit here lying in my bed
          G D
Wondering what it was I said
             A
That made me think I lost my head
       Bm D G D
When I knew I lost my heart instead

             G D
So won't you please read my signs?
     E7
Be a gypsy
        G D E E7
Tell me what I hope to find deep within me
            G D
And because you can find my mind
          Bm G D
Please be with me

And of all the better things I've heard
       G D
Loving you has made the words
            A
And all the rest seem so absurd
              Bm G
'Cause in the end it all comes out I'm sure

So won't you please read my signs?

How could you miss the C? It's all over the repeat at the end of the song. And at the end of each verse just before the progression repeats, and coming out of the solo before the verse progression repeats again. Try it, you'll see. I'm a fiddle player by trade, but I have been playing acoustic guitar for a long time and my ear is very accurate. Just trying to help.

It’s been 2 yrs since I sent this comment, just go to YouTube and listen to the original recording, listen for the bass note, that is usually the root of the chord, when you hear the bassist hit a C note, play a C chord over that, it works! And it’s correct, trust me, I’ve been playing music for 55 yrs, most of that time by ear. Let me know what you think, thx.
