There's a really nice Live Performance of this on the Smothers Brothers Show. Dion seems to play this with his Low E tuned Down a Whole Step to D, and then with a Capo on the Second Fret. With the Capo, he's basically playing a D Configuration of an E Chord with a Capo-Fretted Open E. Sounds nice.
