there seems to be some misconception of what key this song is actually played in. I have two books cold chisel cold chisel(1979) and the best so far (1980)
both notate this song as being in the key of aflat major with the vocal line starting on the relative minor chord fminor. but every recorded version I've ever heard is actually in the key of gmajor vocal line starting relative minor eminor even on the live tapes album where they changed the keys around on a few of the songs. hope this helps.

Wow, I reckon you've earnt me $100s for busking this one!
I've dropped it right down, I sing it in C rather than Ab like Jimmy does. Crikey if only I could KEEP singing after doing it in that key. Amazing stuff: he's singing it eight semitones above me, and he'd then stick around and do another 15 songs in the gig in the pub...
