actually in the first verse im pretty sure pete is doing alot of fast string mutes

PRS Baritones are custom, the ones he plays in concert are mostly regular "Custom 24" guitars with really fat strings. I can't remember exactly but I think my strings are 11-52 Slinkys on my Strat and I can tune to this ok for the most part. You really need a thick low E string.
