Broken Bells: Ghost inside - Tabbed by Rich Weber

I had to tab this because I couldn't find one that was anywhere near accurate (sorry guys).
This one has the correct lyrics, as I hear them. Now they actually make sense.
This is a very deep song, and the other versions just caused the meaning to be lost.
Also, There was also some pretty serious problems with the chords in the other
versions which I fixed.
The others had a 4 chord progression that was the same over and over which is incorrect.
It's actually a 3 chord progression that alternates back and forth.

This is my interpretation of this song, and is not inteded to represent official
notation of the song as performed by Broken Bells. This Tab is for research and
personal growth as a guitarist only.

Here we go.

Standard Tuning

Capo 5 or 7 - I think this sounds best at 5, because of the key I sing in. But
have played it at 7 and it still sounds great.
However, if really you want it to sound great, play it on a uke.

Chords:

A XX2220
Am XX2230
D XX0232
G 320033
Em 0220XX

Intro: Em G D x2 - finger pick or arpeggiate

Em G D
She sold her love to a modern man
Em A D
Cause solid currency's the hardest to love
Em G D
All of that money helps you cover your eyes
Em A D
Don't let the lady finger blow in your hand
       Em
Did it all

Chorus:

         G D Em
For that Dollar
             A D Em
She's a star tonight
        G D
Without warning
         Em A D
She gave up the ghost inside

Em G D
Just like a whiskey bottle drained on the floor
Em A D
She got no future, just a love to endure
Em G D
This good samaritan shakin her hand
Em A D
Too late to leave him now, the sun's in her bed
        Em
Give it up

Chorus:

         G D Em
For that Dollar
             A D Em
She's a star tonight
        G D
Without warning
         Em A D
She gave up the ghost inside

  You call it chivalry
G D
Never pull a punch for free
Em A D
You ever wonder why they had to move on - on
Em
  This phony honor code
G D
That puts you on your throne
Em
  A double standard

You invoke when you want - want

I'm carving them up
                         Em
through the dust in your town

Crawling over rubble

Just to sort it out

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrSPySFv9-A Mercer plays it live the way the others have tabbed it. If you listen to the Album recording, the bass plays E G D A consistently through the entire song. The lead guitar at the "you call it chivalry" section only fits if you use the Em G D A progression. The bridge is spot on though!

I'll take another look.. Just watched that video and it's correct.. However you do know that many "unplugged" versions change quite a bit from the original, right? A lot of times when you play on acoustic you can't play it like you would on an electric because it just doesn't sound good that way. Or they want to add some depth to a more intimate presentation. Usually that isn't chord progressions, but it happens. Look at foo fighters "There goes my hero." That song is really different on acoustic. As is "Times like these." And this one's changed considerably from the radio/album version. He's not even capo'd in this. BTW, Mercer looks kinda like Kevin Spacey.
