Blowin' in the Wind – Bob Dylan
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Written by: Bob Dylan
From: "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" (1963)
Tabbed by: maguri
Tuning: Standard
As of May 2024, Dylan has performed this song in concert roughly 1,585
times (http://bobdylan.com/songs/blowin-wind/) in very different arrangements.
This probably is the reason why people disagree so violently about keys,
chords, capo positions etc. Dylan changes all of these ever so often –
it all depends on which version one is talking about.
For this tab, I had a closer look at the studio version released on "The
Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" in 1963 and tried to put down what I heard. This
version is in D major, but Dylan is using a capo 7th fret here and is
playing G, C and D shapes.
capo: 7th fret
play: G
key: D
For chords in original key, transpose this tab -5 to D.

Yes, as always, an excellent Maguri-tab, thank you!
In this version, in most lines that end on the keynote (Capo 7: G) Mr. Zimmerman returns to that chord just slightly AFTER the last syllable, this adds a certain edge and supports the song´s indignation. Most people play it ON the last syllable, which makes the song sound more harmless, kind of "hippie-flower-power" to my ears.

Yes! I had almost given up hope on finding a version with the correct base notes after looking through all these versions. Thank's so much for you work! Really nicely done. I actually didn't hear the D/F# at first, but it's totally there. Actually i think he plays the run over F# almost always. My guess is, that he always has the D/F# chord shape and plays the base runs as they come.
5 Stars and a favourite from me!
